A busy start to August for the Audlem Lass Crew

It has been a busy time on The Audlem Lass and the Overwater Wheelyboat ‘The Maughan Lass’. For the weekend of the 5th August over 170 passengers enjoyed a trip on The Audlem Lass, plus 25 dogs, all raising funds for the RNLI.

On Monday 7th August there was a joint charter booking, taking 30 visitors out on the Boats, on separate trips, around the marina and along the Shropshire Union Canal to Hack Green Picnic area and return. The group were from The Alzheimer’s Society, Nantwich. The Lyme Trust based at Newcastle under Lyme came for their annual trip on Wednesday 9th on The Audlem Lass. They had a picnic at Hack Green as part of their trip on the water.

Thursday 10th saw us out again on The Audlem Lass to celebrate a special birthday, a gentleman’s 90th birthday which he enjoyed with his children and grandchildren. They had a picnic on the boat and refreshments afterwards at Bridge 80 Café at Overwater Marina. The weather was kind throughout and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Another busy weekend has just passed with 140 passengers on The Audlem Lass and 15 dogs. The weekend rounded off on Sunday afternoon with a film crew, Huckleberry Films, coming down to do a short film for the Canal & River Trust ‘Living Waterways Award, for which The Audlem Lass is a finalist. The announcement of the winner is to be made on Wednesday 27th September at a special Event to be held in Birmingham – we have our fingers crossed!

Grateful passengers have said “thank you to the guys from Audlem Lass for a lovely boat trip – you were so helpful with getting my pushchair onto the boat and taking my family for a trip”. Also “fantastic ride on the Audlem Lass today with my family, we really enjoyed it and will definitely be back next year. Well done to all involved.”
